I have a passion for portraits - the contours, expressions and movement. In a world where anyone with a computer graphics package can become a pop artist I create original, authentic, pop art inspired paintings in acrylic which have an unique energy and intensity about them.

My work is glamorous and attractive. I use a limited palette of colours, often unrelated to normal skin tones, and focus on contour and tone. My portraits start life looking like an abstract painting - only when all the tones and shapes are in place does the portrait emerge.

Previously I have created photo realistic drawings and paintings which were smaller and highly detailed. I have since found a freedom in working large, removing unnecessary detail and encouraging the viewer to see the work as a pattern as much as a portrait.
